SLUH and Lift for Life Football Game Honors Nora Bunn's Legacy with Unicorn Socks and 'Sparkles of Love'

There’s no question: sports have the power to bring people together. But for the St. Louis University High (SLUH) football team, Friday’s upcoming matchup against Lift for Life Academy is about much more than a perfect record.

It’s about remembering a little girl whose courage and love continue to inspire long after her passing.

Last spring, the Junior Billikens were touched by the story of Nora Bunn, a 7-year-old author who bravely battled childhood cancer. Her story, and her spirit, became part of the team’s identity. Many players even shaved their heads in solidarity with her fight. Sadly, Nora passed away last spring. But her legacy — or her “sparkle of love” — still shines brightly within the SLUH community.
