Our First Major Contribution to DMG/DIPG Research
We had a very SPARKLY day yesterday The University of Kansas Cancer Center. We (and when I write “we” I mean all of YOU … Nora’s “fans”) made our 1st major contribution to DMG/DIPG research.
We learned so much visiting Dr. Pyaram’s immunology lab. Researchers often seek their own funding. We saw firsthand how truly passionate these amazing minds are about finding more effective treatments for this horrific diagnosis. We also gained a deeper understanding of the extremely strict government regulations placed on their work. Suffice it to say, our eyes were OPENED to their passion to make a difference.
At this time last year our beautiful girl was fighting so, so hard and slipping away. There are no words for the devastation and daily defeat brought to our family. There are no words for what now feels like “aimless wandering” trying to adjust to life without her.
My mom used to tell me – “If you don’t know what path to take, you make your own.” Through hard work, connection, community and God’s grace – we made a path.
Yesterday felt good, like Nora was plugging holes in our broken hearts with lil’ glitter patches.
